Retired tennis star Andy Roddick is making a comeback—in doubles.
Roddick, 32, announced Monday that he would play doubles with long-time friend Mardy Fish at the Atlanta Open, which begins in late July. Fish, who is still attempting a comeback from a heart ailment and an ongoing battle with anxiety, will also play singles.
“I wanted to play with my friend and kind of share in his comeback a little bit,” Roddick said in a conference call. “I wasn’t a very good doubles player when I was actually good at tennis. Mardy is going to have to do the heavy lifting.”
